Electrospective Manchester District Music Archive has teamed up with electrofunkroots to bring a marathon celebration of Manchester's 1980s Electro-Funk and B-Boy scene to Islington Mill on Saturday 30 August 2008 from 4pm to 3am.
The event, led by pioneering DJ and producer Greg Wilson, will explore the impact of this seminal underground movement through films, talks and music.
Greg will be hosting Q&As with key figures from the era, including Hewan Clarke, Colin Curtis, Chad Jackson and Mike Shaft, followed by the first ever public screening of Tim 'Bones' Forde's life-affirming film, 'The Birth of the British B-Boy', a 40-minute documentary about Manchester's legendary breakdance troupe Broken Glass Street Crew.
The event will climax with a club night from 10pm-3am, featuring some of the scene's most important DJs and dancers.
Daytime: Free admission from 4pm
Club night: Ticket only after 10pm
Tickets are on sale now from:

A big farmers' market (with stallholders from Borough Market), loads of stuff for the kids to do, licenced real ale, cider and other bars, lots of lovely food, an arts and crafts area, places to picnic, a few smoothies, massages and a shady spot under the trees if it all gets a bit too much.
Tickets:
Tickets are £7.50 for adults and £3.50 for kids (excl booking fee) and you can buy them here. Children under 3 go free so won't need a ticket.
Our fete sold out last year so make sure you get your ticket quick sharp.
Boring facts:
When: the fete is open from 11am to 7pm on Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd August.
Where: it's in Regent's Park in London, here's a printable map if you're not that familiar with the area.
Why: because it seemed better than staying at home and watching Columbo.
Any other questions?: Check out our FAQs here.
Doing our bit:
The innocent village fete is a non profit making event that supports Samaritans, Friends of the Earth, Wellchild and our very own innocent foundation.
How to get to the fete:

Our friends at Transport for London have helped us to put together a guide of the best ways to get to the fete on our FAQ page here.
Rebuilding our website hasn't gone as easy as we had hoped. Its
quite a struggle, especially at a time of year when there is so much
happening out and about.
There has also been a delay in the transfer of domain names, which also means the email addresses.
THIS MEANS THEY DONT WORK!!!!!!!!!!!!
We may get somewhere soon.
The team.
Heres the "family" train with a borrowed engine. Just in case it has not been spotted..... Interesting item in Companies House for last month?????
Balloon Release The profits from the Balloon Release will go to the following charities... |

One
in every 200 babies is born with a rare chromosome disorder, one in
every 1,000 babies having symptoms from birth or early childhood, the
rest being affected when they grow up and try to have babies of their
own. They may have multiple miscarriages, fertility problems,
stillbirths or the birth of a disabled child. Some of these chromosome
disorders are so rare that they are actually unique. It
is usually immediately following diagnosis that affected families and
individuals have the greatest need for emotional and practical support
and above all, for information. Unique is a source of information and
support to families and individuals affected by any rare chromosome
disorder and to the professionals who work with them. Unique is a
UK-based charity but welcomes members worldwide. Unique receives no
government funding and is heavily reliant on donations and fundraising
to continue its work. Birmingham
Childrens Hospital is one of the very best childrens hospitals in the
UK. Every year they treat children with rare, complex, life threatening
conditions. The paediatric specialists rank amongst the most highly
regarded in the world, and they deliver the very highest standards of
treatment, care and research every day. Unfortunately, the hospital
buildings do not always match the standard of care provided. Too often,
children are treated in conditions which are crowded, uncomfortable and
lacking in privacy. Over
the next 10 years, the Red Balloon Appeal will support the regeneration
plans. By raising funds for the Red Balloon Appeal you will be playing
a vital role in the future of Birmingham Childrens Hospital and in the
future of the thousands of children who rely on their services every
year. |

Pete Chamber's latest column is an interview with Bobby Clarke, an ex Tile Hillian ( the banana flats).
Hes the chap that started yours truly on the Drums, mind you he freaked out the parents...calling around to watch the midnight movie on the telly wearing a fur coat and with no front teeth.
I was just musing on how well Tile Hill has done over the years---
4 national/international musicians
two international writer /journalists
plus one prolific millionaire/writer of bodice ripping yarns
6 artists of renown
1 infamous criminal
Well how about some Mancy stuff....
